Barry
Brukoff has evolved a method of designing interiors based
on an experiential as well as an aesthetic approach. Brukoff's
interiors are not trendy or stylistic. His designs have a
timeless quality. "We design by imagining the experience
of moving through a space, seeing how the light will enter,
exploring what the response of the client will be".
He has a passion for contemporary architecture and his appreciation
is reflected in the way he works with architects; advocating
a design process which encourages collaboration. He often
works as a consultant to architects and frequently uses an
architectural consultant on large-scale projects. The result
is an interior that so seamlessly integrates with the architecture
that the interior and exterior appear to have been created
by the same hand.
In addition to contemporary interior design, Brukoff often
functions as the architectural lighting designer, custom
furniture designer, and art consultant. He is a Certified
Residential Lighting Consultant and has studied painting,
sculpture and design at the Chicago Art Institute. He continues
his involvement in the fine arts through his photography,
with numerous coffee table books to his credit. His early
career as a sculptor is reflected in his custom furniture
and lighting fixture designs. He works with a variety of
craftsmen to create original sofas, tables and cabinets,
often using a variety of sculptural materials such as steel,
granite or cast glass.
Brukoff is perhaps best known for his residential designs
which have been showcased in numerous publications, including Interiors,
Interior Design, Palm Springs Life, Architectural Digest,
Designing with Wood, Designing with Tile, Stone and Brick,
Designing with Light, West Coast Rooms, and UrbanStyle. |
