This
residence designed in collaboration with Marshall Lewis Architects
is situated on a bluff overlooking the Pacific ocean. The
feature wall of the Living Room is a play of black granite,
taupe, waxed Italian plaster, and satin stainless panels
in an arc form serving as a contemporary version of a mantel.
The color scheme is derived from these basic materials with
accents of ruby red and aubergine. The client sought a Zen-like
simplicity in the space.
The family room is this couple’s entertaining center,
therefore it was desired to have a bar which served as a
gathering point. The room focuses on the large television
entertainment center and adjacent fireplace. A game table
and chairs are positioned to maximize the view and relate
to the adjacent fireplace.
The colors in this area derive from the fireplace stone
which marries the interior and exterior. The olives and pale
gold and amber of the stone is reflected in the anigre wood
paneling and pale olive tones of carpet and paint, accented
by uba tuba granite on the bar. Throughout the home, there
are many areas in which we have utilized custom architectural
lighting design to integrate with the modern interior design.
As our client is an excellent cook, we were asked to create
a kitchen that would be very efficient as well as unique
in it’s form. The kitchen lighting design includes
indirect cove lights on both sides, as well as recessed low
voltage lights in the ceiling and in the custom designed
hood.
