This residence which is under construction in the hills above Honolulu has an extraordinary ocean view centered upon Diamond Head. The renderings which you see displayed here were created for the purpose of conveying to our clients, how this house, which is rather unusual for the area, would appear as seen from the street and from an overhead view.
When our clients contacted us they asked if we ever took on projects in which we designed the building as well as the interiors, lighting and furnishings. We have not done so, although we have collaborated on the building design with many of the architects with whom we work. This was a new challenge and a new opportunity. We are collaborating with a local architect who is providing the basic construction needs while we are responsible for the design of the building. We have brought to this project some new material choices: a patinated copper barrel vaulted roof, steel troweled stucco exterior walls and split faced Chinese slate walls. The interior materials include random pattern Quartzite floors Gllu-Lam exposed beams, maple ceilings and Cherrywood cabinetry.
Our clients who have both had careers in the real estate industry were quite concerned with the aesthetic qualities and were very conscious of the need to coordinate the building and interiors from the beginning of the project. They were pleased with our firms emphasis on providing a high level of quality in the lighting design.
We have included a few photographs of the building in construction, as they represent the high degree of accuracy created in the renderings which we produced during the planning phase. Construction will be completed during 2009.
